June Pet of the Month-Bunny and BellaRoo
The Story of My Family
by BellaRoo Frede
Once upon a time, Mommy and I were in a very scary place. There were lots of other animals that had been picked up off the streets. I stayed close to Mommy—we were in a small cage, anyway—but I never felt safe. Some of the animals went off somewhere in the building and never came back.
One day an angel came from SaveKitty Foundation and took Mommy and me to her home. There were other kitties there, too, but not as many as before and all in big, big cages. It was much, much nicer, but I wanted to live in a home of our own, with our own human (they have no tails!).
In October 2007, we were at the cat show in Madison Square Garden. The fancy cats were upstairs, but downstairs there were a lot of cats just as nice (or even nicer!) who needed homes. A lady came in and looked at us for a long time. I heard her tell the angel that we were beautiful (she said she loved our “coloration,” whatever that is) but she was moving and wouldn’t be in her new home for a while. The angel said she would keep us in Queens and the lady could visit us. And when she did visit, she loved us and we loved her and I knew it was going to be great to all live together.
It took six whole months until our new home was ready. I was so excited! I jumped out of my travel bag as fast as I could and ran around the whole place. And at night Mommy and I cuddled with our human Mommy. And since that time we’ve all lived happily ever after.
