December Pet of the Month-Sheetsy
Sheetsy is a 6-year old lovable and playful husky/terrier mix. She was adopted by her parents, Ben and Sara, from North Shore Animal League in 2006, when she was just 9 months old. She was named “Sheetsy” after Ben Sheets, the “not-so” famed baseball pitcher who her parents saw play at Shea Stadium before adopting her that day (even though he was pitching against their beloved Mets, go figure). Sheetsy lives with her parents in New York City, but she is a country girl at heart, having been born in Tennessee, so she enjoys spending time with her grandparents at her country homes in New Jersey and Maryland and is lucky to be cared for by all of her family, immediate and extended. Sheetsy enjoys racing (she almost never loses), pumpkins, flirting at the dog park, eating beefsticks, playing in the snow (she is part husky after all!), and crawling into nooks. While Sheetsy is generally shy and fearful of most men, she has developed very trusting and loving relationships with her father and her grandfathers, especially when they are discreetly feeding her human food under the table. Sheetsy is a private lady, and only allows her picture to be taken if it is being shot by her personal photographer (and aunt), Auntie Boone. She is an extremely loved dog, who rarely barks, never bites or chews and is a pleasure to be around all the time. Sadly, Sheetsy was diagnosed with Addison’s disease during her holiday break at her Maryland country home in 2010 and had a tough few months after that, but she was very brave, and is now feeling very energetic and healthy again. Sheetsy is very thankful to the Met Vets for helping her feel great again and for being so nice. Sheetsy looks forward to having a more energetic holiday season at her country home this year and sends her best wishes to her fellow Met Vet pups for a snuggly holiday season and a happy and healthy new year!
