March Pet of the Month-Roxie
Roxie is a goofy, fuzzy, sweet Shiba Inu. She is very gentle and extremely patient with our 14-month-old daughter and 8-year-old son (both of whom adore her). She possesses many odd quirks such as a blood curdling, screaming shriek (that oddly enough signals joy when we get home), an intense phobia of nail clippers and a desire to not go out for a walk. Often we think she may be a cat in a dog suit.
Although she is somewhat small in stature, she’s deceivingly strong and packs quite a whollop. She can body slam a door into opening and when she decides something on the street smells interesting, you’d better be prepared to halt!
She loves her sister, Peanut (a rescued pit mix) who we feel has taught her how to be more dawg. They’re an odd pair, these two, the pure bred princess and the junkyard dog but they love each other to bits! Roxie more than holds her own with her larger, more muscular pal and watching them play is more entertaining than anything on tv.
Roxie enjoys going to the beach but don’t try to get her near the water! She’d rather dig a cool hole in the sand and watch her sister, Peanut, swim from a safe distance.
She contributes to the family by ridding the outdoor garden area of undesirables (water bugs) that fill her mom with dread. She has more than earned the title “Roxie the Roach Slayer”! Her greatest contribution though, is the unconditional love she gives us all!
