October Pet of the Month-Rebel
Our October Pet of the Month is Rebel. Rebel is currently being fostered by The American Street Cat, Inc. and is looking for his forever home.
Rebel was found living with his family (parents, brother and two sisters) on city property under a highway. Lacking a foster home when he was trapped, Rebel was neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and released. As soon as the foster home was vacated, though, Rebel was re-trapped and began the deworming and FVRCP rounds.
TASC learned that Rebel’s parents were dumped together two years ago by a woman who drove up with a carrier and released them. The mother was pregnant then, and who knows how many litters she’s had since! When parents aren’t feral to begin with, chances are the kittens won’t be either. Although Rebel is eartipped, he has completely taken to indoor living and to human affection. He loves his belly rubs and has a very strong purr.
His siblings have found homes, and his dad has been TNR’d. His mom, on the other hand, is wise to the ways of humans with traps, but with weekly attempts, it’s just a matter of time before her breeding days come to an end.
